After a very long hiatus and wanting to get back into this blog, I am finally getting back on track..or is it trek haha…and reviving this experiment.  Luckily, after letting it sit idle for so long, I had some additional ideas on how to improve the blog.  It will still be mostly about music, but I realized that sometimes other mediums can be just as important to your soundtrek to life…such things as movies, books, trips, etc.

As this is a (re)intro into the revised blog, I wanted to start with my favorite intro track along with a little blurb on the band and track as a taste of what is to come.

The xx – “Intro”  (Long Version)
This indie pop band from London has much critical acclaim from Rolling Stone, NME, and Metacritic.  They’ve played Coachella, Sasquatch, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, and Bonnaroo.  I aw them at Sasquatch and was blown away.  It’s surprising how moving their music can be despite a very minimal stage presence.  They don’t need it as their music more than makes up for it and you’re too busy dancing or moving with the music to notice.  Their songs have also made a fair amount of airplay on the radio and in TV spots in both commercials and shows, and “Intro” is no exception -  you may remember it from clips of the 2010 Winter Olympics and an AT&T commercial with speed skater Apollo Ono (Fun Fact: Apollo is the greek god of music, amoung other things).

SoundTrek Moment: Sasquatch 2010 – Jamie xx had just taken the stage and started the song as the other members came out.  I had already listened to their albulm and was very excited to see them.  The intensity of this song  kept going through their set and was over way too quickly.
